The first time I started trying to translate something from English to Portuguese was when I was eleven.

A primeira vez que comecei a tentar a traduzir algo do inglês para o português foi quando eu tinha 11 anos.

I listened to a song and I needed to know what the lyrics meant: that very moment I was sure that English was one of my passions.

Ouvi uma música e precisava saber o que ela queria dizer: nesse exato momento tive a certeza que o inglês era uma das minhas paixões.

Besides English, that band - Information Society - conquered me:

Every single word I looked up at the dictionary! Can you imagine that? =O

Back to the past, because of my age my parents didn't allow me to go to Maracanãzinho to see Information Society or InSoc (it was the second time they came to Rio at the same year!).

I cried a lot! I felt so sad! My heart was broken...

De volta ao passado, por causa da minha idade meus pais não deixaram ir ao Maracanãzinho ver o Information Society ou InSoc ( essa foi a segunda vez que eles vieram ao Rio no mesmo ano!).

Chorei muito! Fiquei tão triste! Meu coração ficou partido...

But before the show, my sister and I were walking on Copacabana beach (that time I lived there) when she saw one of them (James, Paul and Kurt) and told me discretely: "Lu, look! That guy is Paul!".

Mas antes do show, minha irmã e eu estávamos caminhando no calçadão de Copa (nessa época eu morava lá) quando ela viu um deles (James, Paul e Kurt) e me disse discretamente: "Lu, olha! Aquele cara é o Paul!"

I saw him and he looked at us: Paul, your face expression I will never forget! lol

Maybe you thought that I would scream or something like that, I don't know, but it was funny!

In short, my sister and I did nothing, we couldn't SPEAK ENGLISH, only undestanding!

Paul went away however, I felt happy seeing him!

I used to see vampires with a different point of view from what I do nowadays.

Vampires, for me, were only bloodsuckers, monsters, undead, immortal...

This last semester, I had to study Dracula by Bram Stocker in my English Literature classes and that made a big difference to me.

No último semestre, tive que estudar Drácula de Bram Stocker nas minhas aulas de Literatura Inglesa e isso fez uma grande diferença para mim.

Dracula - according to my classes - is the personification of sexual desire, sexual freedom.

Drácula - de acordo com as minhas aulas - é a personificação do desejo sexual, liberdade sexual.

19 th century women could have sex only after marriage to procriate. The ones who transgressed, suffered the consequences of it.

As mulheres do século 19 só podiam ter relações sexuais depois do casamento para procriar. Aquelas que transgrediam, sofriam as consequências.

In Dracula, Lucy and the 3 "sisters" were killed.

Em Drácula, Lucy e as 3 "irmãs" foram eliminadas.

Besides that, Dracula has the power to turn into animals and change the weather, that is, representing Nature, he represents instinct: what comes from Nature is natural, not a sin.

I don't know what was exactly Stocker's intention but in 21 st century his book could sound like a criticism to sexism! lol

Yes, after reading Dracula, I had to think about Twilight Saga.

Sim, depois de ler Drácula, tive que reflertir sobre a saga Crepúsculo.

And I can see the essence of Dracula there: Edward doens't drink Bella's blood, in a certain way, because he is controlling his instinct: he wants to have sex with her after marriage (a Victorian guy!)

E consigo ver a essência de Drácula lá: Edward não toma o sangue de Bella, de uma certa maneira, porque ele está controlando seu instinto: ele quer ter relações sexuais com ela depois do casamento (um cara vitoriano!)

Before that, he used to sing Depeche Mode's songs and nowadays, after leaving Information Society, he has formed his own band: a brilliant and successful future is waiting for him =)
